Research supply planning requires knowing how many administrations a single reconstituted vial will provide, and whether that matches your study duration. Running out mid-protocol — and reconstituting a second vial — introduces a potential batch variable. This calculator determines total administrations and protocol duration from vial size, dose per administration, and administration frequency.
Two constraints bound your planning: total administrations (limited by vial content) and reconstituted stability (typically 14–30 days at 2–8°C in bacteriostatic water). If your calculated protocol duration exceeds the stability window, divide the vial into aliquots before reconstitution — lyophilised powder stored at −20°C is stable for much longer than reconstituted solution.
For multi-animal studies, multiply the per-animal doses by cohort size to determine total compound required, then divide by vial size to calculate the number of vials needed. Always order a 10–20% overage to account for dead volume and preparation losses.
